This post has been a long time coming!  Steve and Alisha were married last October, in a quiet backyard ceremony.  I had the privilege of second shooting under the wonderful Heather from Heatherly!  The colours were beautiful, the weather was gorgeous (and incredibly hot!), and everyone was looking fabulous.  Steve and Alisha are busy parents to 3 beautiful kids, who were just a joy to be around.  I had a ton of fun shooting their wedding!  Enjoy your pictures, Steve and Alisha!

I may or may not have donated my iPhone for the purpose of playing cupcakes while her mama finished getting ready ;)

A fun outtake from the day:  Heather does a great job keeping the little ones engaged and excited about picture taking – even during what should be naptime!

Well, if you’ve been following along on my saga on Facebook, you’ll see that we’ve sold our house and we’re moving across town at the end of March! It’s been a whirlwind of a time, and also a big part of the reason why my blog has been untouched for awhile (with the exception of the couple recent posts).  I will miss this house – it’s where all my babies were born (one of them literally!) and where we’ve made our home.  We have found the perfect sized house on the other side of town for our family that allows us just a little more breathing room, and despite the little twangs of sadness over leaving our first home, we are all excited!

What does this mean for you, the client? Nothing! I’m still operating as always, my phone numbers are remaining the same, I might just not respond quickly the last week of March ;)

Please send prayers that the next few months go smoothly for us as we move to our new house.

And because no post should be without pictures, enjoy one of our kitty – who is going to miss her favourite spot!

What do you get when you cross a cranky toddler and gorgeous light?  Well, you get beautiful photos!  You’d never know he was cranky, well, except maybe in one picture ;)  My brother, my sister-in-law, and nephew needed an updated photo shoot, and in record time – we had just 20 minutes to gather some memorable photos.  My nephew was a little out of sorts, having been woken up early from his nap.  His parents were good sports, and I pulled out all the stops and got these beautiful photographs that they will love forever :)

Gorgeous light is worth waking up babies for ;)

Hehehehehe ;)  Ok, so you can see his crabbiness in this one a bit, but I love it – it’s cute in a baby-crying kinda way!

This one is my favourite… And it needs to be printed BIG somewhere prominently in their home!

Last fall, I ran Christmas Anytime Mini Sessions – designed to get you some updated family portraits, as well as some stylish Christmas Cards to send out to your friends and family.

I was able to reconnect with my friend Stacey in November to photograph her and her family, and we had a great time!  Our little walk in the woods yielded many fun photos – and you should hear that little guy TALK!  I was totally blown away by his vocabulary for being just 18 months old at the time!

Stacey, thank you for the opportunity to capture your family in photographs, and enjoy your day of blog fame!

Well, another year is ending – and I can’t really believe we’re already at the end of December.  In true year end fashion, I am doing a review of 2011.  This year has been my first in business, and it has been an honour to have preserved memories for all the different clients I have had.  I’m going to also admit something here…  Not all of these images I’m about to showcase have been blogged yet!  That’s mostly because I am behind on blogging, oops!  There are more sessions than what is featured here – I had to narrow it down so you weren’t reading for an hour!  Enjoy the show :)

Little Hannah (top) and Isabella (bottom)…  Hannah decided that she’d like to see what I could do with a non-sleeping baby ;)  And Isabella decided that she’d sleep for approximately 14 seconds (no joke!) and be awake the rest of the time.  Both Hannah’s and Isabella’s mommies are friends of mine from my Bible study – and I was happy to provide pictures for each of them when their babies were small :)

Baby Carter was a fun little guy!  Intent on NOT sleeping, he gave me some beautiful “happy” shots.  Baby Carter’s shoot can be found HERE if you’d like to see more!

I had the privilege of shooting an event for Dana Marie, in honour of a little girl named Anna, who suffers from Rett Syndrome.  It was a fabulous night full of fun, magic, and music.  You can learn more about Rett Syndrome by visiting www.girlpower2cure.org.  The full event for Dana Marie can be found by clicking HERE.

My sister, Diane.  She is a woman of many talents, and never seems to take a bad picture.  I definitely did NOT get that gene ;)  Her physical beauty is only just a part of what makes her up – she has so much to offer this world and will go far with whatever she sets her mind to.  Love you Diane :)

Jazmyn, Sam, and Rachel are three young women that I have the privilege to know through my time working at Starbucks. I spent time with each of them earlier this year to capture some amazing images.  Their sessions are here:  Jazmyn  Sam  Rachel

Meet:  My brother, sister-in-law, and my nephew.  My nephew had just been woken up from his nap to meet up for a photoshoot (hey, gorgeous light takes precedence over naptime sometimes!) so was in less than good spirits, to say the least.  We made the best of it, and in just 20 minutes I was able to capture images that I know my brother and his family will cherish.  This session will be blogged in the near future, so, watch for it!

Earlier this year, I traveled to Fergus, Ontario, to capture sweet images of little Lexi.  She was a dream to photograph!  Slept peacefully throughout nearly the whole session.  Her whole session can be found by clicking HERE :)

The Bisch family:  Probably one of my favourite sessions of 2011 – these kids were SO fun to chase around and capture.  We had probably THE best day in October for picture taking, with gorgeous light and a beautiful location too!  I encourage you to check out their entire session by clicking HERE.

Earlier this year, I gifted a session as a ¨Pay it Forward¨ gesture.  Catherine and her family met up with me to capture images for their Christmas card this year.  Catherine is also a photographer – her and I had a great time talking shop!  Catherine’s blog post isn’t written yet – but look forward to reading it during the cold, dreary days of winter :)

Gisela & Matt’s Wedding was held on a beautiful (and hot!) August day.  I really loved how small and intimate it was, only about 40 people in total were there.  If you’d like to see more from their day, click on over to their blog post.

The Simpers are good friends of mine, and I enjoyed helping them get art onto their walls!  Their daughters are friends with my daughters, and that means us parents are good friends too ;)  Which reminds me, we’re long overdue for a dinner date…  While I go email them, you can see the rest of their session here :)

A big thank you to all my clients for the wonderful year – and I wish you ALL a very Happy New Year!  Cheers to you as we enter 2012 :)

All About: Family Sessions | Kitchener Family Photographer http://www.stephaniecanada.ca/2011/12/all-about-family-sessions-kitchener-family-photographer/ http://www.stephaniecanada.ca/2011/12/all-about-family-sessions-kitchener-family-photographer/#comments Thu, 15 Dec 2011 22:53:29 +0000 Stephanie http://www.stephaniecanada.ca/?p=1514 NOTE: the images in this feed have been downsized or removed for copyright reasons. This post piggybacks from an earlier post about What to Expect in a Newborn Session.  I had such good response from it, I decided to go for Installment #2 – What can you expect in a Family Session?

The basic premise for my sessions is that I want each session I complete to be more than just me showing up at our decided upon location and start shooting.  I take time before our session to get to know YOU – the people whom I am going to photograph.  We meet for coffee and go over specifics, locations, paperwork, and clothing choices.  Any questions you have, I am right there to answer.  If a question or concern pops up between our consultation and our session – feel free to send me an email or give me a call, I am happy to answer.

On the day of our session, I start by some silly games or activities that warm everyone up – I promise to make a fool out of myself to make your kids laugh :)  We then spend the next hour to hour and a half just running around and having fun.  I click the shutter when I see the “moment” – and it works best if you, my client, try to forget I’m there ;)

I try to keep a balance between more “posed” looking shots, and more lifestyle type shots.  I love to see the memories and expressions as they unfold, but will sometimes try and place you in the best lighting and THEN tell you to pretend I’m not around.  The result is gorgeous family portraits that you will remember and cherish for a lifetime.  Isn’t that what it’s all about?

After our session, I spend the next 2-3 weeks editing each photo, one by one.  I pore over each photo, detail by detail, to make sure every portrait is worthy to be called “art”.  I don’t heavily photoshop, but I do retouch each image to bring out the best in you and your family.  Once this process is complete, we schedule an in-person ordering session where you get to see your images for the first time.

The in-person ordering session is your opportunity to complete your pre-set photography goals.  Here we talk about upgrade options, and how to use your images to complete a space in your home.

The final process is completing your order.  I quality check every single item that comes from my printing company to ensure everything was done correctly.  If not, I take care of all the reprinting, so there’s no hassle for you.

Custom photography should be a pleasant experience – not a stressful one.  These are the ways I work to simplify the session process and make it what it should be…  An enjoyable experience.

If you need more information on choosing a photographer that is right for you, I encourage you to read my checklist over HERE.

In September, I had the privilege of working with Dana Marie (www.danamariemusic.com) to donate my time and services to a benefit concert.  The Music and Magic Benefit Concert featured Dana Marie, Amy Savin, and Rex Magic – all worked together to create a dynamic, moving musical experience that served to bring awareness to Rett Syndrome – A neurological disorder plaguing mostly little girls.

The highlight of the evening was Dana Marie singing her newest release, “I’ll Fly”.  This song was written for a little girl named Anna, who suffers from Rett Syndrome.

If you are interested in supporting Girl Power 2 Cure, you are welcome to purchase a rubberized bracelet at www.auction4anna.ca.  Bracelets are $2 each, and all proceeds go toward supporting Girl Power 2 Cure.

Thank you Dana Marie, Amy Savin, and Rhea for the opportunity to capture this special night.  I am truly thankful I could be involved in this way.

Anna and her father, sharing a special moment

Cupcakes were sold to raise funds for Rett Syndrome

Rex Magic made us all laugh in this family friendly show

Dana Marie captured everyone’s attention with her riveting song, “I’ll Fly”

{2012 Session Investment Information} | Kitchener Family Photographer http://www.stephaniecanada.ca/2011/12/2012-session-investment-information-kitchener-family-photographer/ http://www.stephaniecanada.ca/2011/12/2012-session-investment-information-kitchener-family-photographer/#comments Wed, 14 Dec 2011 18:03:47 +0000 Stephanie http://www.stephaniecanada.ca/?p=1668 NOTE: the images in this feed have been downsized or removed for copyright reasons. If any of you have been following my Facebook Fan Page, you will see that I have recently launched a new Session Investment structure for 2012.  Why have I done this?

It’s about choice.

Not everyone has a use or need for digital images.  Not everyone wants a giant canvas on their wall.  Some people really want that album from their session.

What if you could pick and choose products from my A La Carte page up to a value of your session investment? Now you can.

How does it work?

Easy.  You pay your session investment.  Your session investment magically (ok, so it’s not really magic) turns into a print credit – and you can use your ENTIRE investment towards products on my A La Carte page.  That means you now have credit to put towards that canvas you’ve always dreamed about hanging above your couch.  Or money to spend on an album. Or, you can even mix and match products from the A La Carte page to make your very own collection :)

Take a moment and visit the session investment page – and see how I can make your session customized just for you.
